§ 10-1. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Disaster means a severe or prolonged, natural or human-caused, occurrence that threatens or negatively impacts life, health, property, infrastructure, the environment, the security of this state or a portion of this state or critical systems, including computer, telecommunications or agricultural systems.

    Emergency management means all measures undertaken by or on behalf of the village to prepare for and minimize the effect of a disaster or the imminent threat of a disaster or a public health emergency and make repairs to or restore infrastructure or critical systems that are destroyed or damaged by a disaster.
