§ 12-40. Purpose and intent.

Latest version.
  • (a)

The village is exempt from the requirements of Wis. Stats. § 59.692(1)(m), with the exception of shoreland properties that may be annexed into the village. Nevertheless, in an effort to comply with state and county minimum requirements, the village has elected to adopt this article.

    (b)

This article is intended for the purpose of furthering the maintenance of safe and healthful environmental conditions, preventing and controlling water pollution, and protecting spawning grounds and fish and aquatic life through the control of building sites, placement of structures, and land uses reserving shore cover and natural beauty. This article is intended to limit the direct and cumulative impacts of shoreland development on near-shore aquatic, wetland and upland wildlife habitat and to preserve and protect water quality and natural scenic beauty in compliance with the minimum standards of Wis. Stats. § 281.31.

    (c)

It is not the intent of this article to relieve village property owners or their agents from responsibility for full compliance with any additional applicable county, state and federal regulations. Owners of property subject to this article shall comply with this article and may be required to comply with additional regulations imposed by other governing authorities.
