§ 20-19. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Boat or vessel means every description of watercraft used or capable of being used as a means of transportation on water, including personal watercraft (PWC) and pontoon boats, except a seaplane on the water and a fishing raft.

    Motorboat means any boat equipped with propulsion machinery, whether or not the machinery is the principal source of propulsion.

    Park means all grounds, structures and watercourses which are or may be located within any area dedicated to the public use as a park, parkway, recreation facility or conservancy district in the village, including the village beach and pavilion.

    Personal watercraft means a watercraft:

    (1)

    Upon which during use the operator or passengers stand, kneel or sit astride.

    (2)

    That has water jet propulsion or a caged propeller as its primary source of motive power.

    (3)

    The operation of which after sunset and before sunrise is prohibited by state law.

    Slow-No-Wake means the slowest possible speed at which a boat can move through the water while still maintaining steerage.

    Water ski means the act of skiing on water with water skis, aquaplane or similar devices while being towed by a boat.
