§ 24-19. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Putrescible waste means solid waste that contains organic matter capable of being decomposed by microorganisms and of such a character and proportion as to cause obnoxious odors and to be capable of attracting or providing food for birds or animals.

    Solid waste.

    (1)

    The term "solid waste" means garbage, refuse and all other discarded or salvageable material, including waste material resulting from industrial, commercial and agricultural operations, and from domestic use and public service activities.

    (2)

    The term "solid waste" does not include solid or dissolved material in wastewater effluents or other common water pollutants.
